This portrait was commissioned by a financial magazine for an article on the death of an important figure. The client wanted the portrait to reflect the overall style of the magazine and portray the significance of death's finality. I used pipe smoke as a symbol of transience and refextion, the result is a clash between something that is the final end and something that slowly wanders and eventually dissolves.
