Toronto Animation Arts Festival International 2019
The Toronto Animation Arts Festival International (TAAFI) is back for 2019, with a new and exciting partner. For the first time, the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema in Toronto will be hosting the event from February 15th-17th.
The festival lineup for 2019 has a healthy balance of both international and Canadian works, something that Ben McEvoy, chair of TAAFI says is “important to see and learn and even get inspired from.”
The three-day festival will screen 70 films and shorts including a special showing of How to Train Your Dragon with director Dean DeBlois and actor Jay Baruchel, who voices Hiccup.
Other highlights include a screening of The Most Magnificent Thing (narrated by Whoopi Goldberg), a collection of ‘oddball’ shorts and a series of cartoons perfectly suited for children (and for those who are kids at heart).
“Animation is a rich and powerful medium that pervades everything we see and do these days given how many screens occupy our lives – and our goal is to help showcase and celebrate the breadth, depth, and diversity of the medium to break stereotypes and nurture new opportunities, says McEvoy.
Stay tuned for other exciting programming from TAAFI in the coming months.
